Working at a surf school in Chennai, India, provided me with a unique perspective on the intricate functioning of such establishments and underscored the significance of each individual's role. Beyond the exhilaration of surfing, the school encompassed diverse activities, ranging from kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding to enjoying ocean-side dining and ensuring the upkeep of accommodation facilities.  Despite surfing still being a niche sport in India, there is a gradual increase in interest, driven by growing awareness of the skills required for this exhilarating activity. In this coastal village, surfers often impart their knowledge through classes at the surf school, a means of earning their livelihood.
